Are you ready? Are you ready to see the most beautiful baby in the world (at least to me)?!
On Saturday, December 5th, we had our 3D/4D ultrasound appointment at UC Baby. Dan and I went and met my Mom and Dad and little sister there. What was so wonderful was that my other sister, her fiance and my mother-in-law could watch the entire ultrasound online.
The ultrasound was a very wonderful hour long experience. We were so excited to see our baby’s little face and fingers and toes. We did not however, want to find out the gender.
Even though Mommy and Daddy are photographers, this little one decided to be a little camera shy. Our baby decided that instead of posing for the camera, s/he was comfortable cuddling up to Mommy on its side and didn’t really want to wake up. We got some beautiful shots of our baby in profile:
It is absolutely breathtaking that deep within me lies this perfect little being – with big eyes and a precious button nose and expressive lips and cheeks just like Daddy. All those jabs and bumps and jiggles that shake up my belly are caused by little hands with perfect little fingers and little feet containing perfect little toes:
Halfway through the ultrasound, we tried to wake our precious little baby up. I had already had apple juice and half of a chocolate chip muffin before the ultrasound, but we thought a little more sugar might stir some things up. Mom had brought some of my favorite Christmas cookies that she makes called lebkuchen – similar to a gingerbread cookie but more delicious. Like gingerbread, this cookie has sweet and spicy tastes that I haven’t tasted since the Christmas previous, which means this would all be new to the baby. I revelled in the taste of this delicious Christmas cookie and watched the ultrasound screen. Around five minutes after eating the cookie, our baby started making a face, letting us know that the cookie was not enjoyed by everyone. It was hilarious and precious and helped us get to know our baby just a little more.
The ultrasound was so wonderful. It was absolutely priceless to have the opportunity to continue to get to know our little one. It was so cool to already see our baby’s personality shining through the computer screen. It makes me so much more excited to get to finally meet this baby in person.
The one thing we still don’t know about yet is whether our little bubby is a girl or a boy. What do you think? I have a poll started on the left side of the screen.
And finally, for your viewing pleasure, my baby’s last picture before s/he is born:
