Today was my second appointment (and the third time I’ve gone for a doctor’s appointment: if you don’t remember the hilarious story I mentioned before – I went for this appointment a week ago! Silly pregnancy brain!). I convinced Dan to come, because I really wanted him to hear our baby’s heartbeat. I didn’t want to be the only one to have heard our little one. We’re in this together.
So, Dan met me outside of work for us to walk to the appointment together. Apparently this doctor’s appointment might not have put him on his boss’ good side. Oops. We get to the waiting room, which is a very appropriate name, since all we did was wait. And wait. And wait. My doctor’s appointment was at 10:30am, so we got there around 10:20. I didn’t go in to the doctor’s office until 11:30 and there was another 10 minutes of waiting before we actually saw the doctor. Dan was not impressed – especially since he knew this is what I went through during my first appointment as well.
Today’s appointment was pretty quick. She weighed me – apparently I have gained 3 lbs (which I haven’t. Maybe it was my full bladder! She also calibrated the scale this time, which she didn’t do last time, so I am slightly sceptical about this mysterious weight gain). She checked my blood preassure (it was excellent). She scheduled me for an ultrasound (YAY! It will be around 19 weeks when I go). Then, I got to listen to my baby again. We found the heartbeat with no problems today. It was so beautiful. Dan was amazed at how fast it was. It is true. Baby’s heartbeat is double mine!
And that was it – my 10 minute appointment that somehow took an hour and a half. Oh well – it was worth it.
We did see a tonne of kids and babies while sitting in the waiting room. It makes me impatient to meet mine. I guess I better get used to waiting.
