It rained yesterday. I am actually a huge fan of the rain. I think it comes from my years of working in the service industry. Rain means that people tend to stay inside and not go out. Whenever it rained on a work day, I knew I had a relaxing shift ahead of me. Now when it rains, I find my entire body relaxing. I stay in bed a little longer. I listen to the tippity tappity of the rain outside the window.
Thunderstorms clear away the humidity in the hot summer. Rain freshens.
Rain days are my opportunity to refresh.
The problem with yesterday’s rain storm is that I knew today was Cameron’s five month day. I really wanted to take Cam’s five month pictures outside but I was worried that the rain was going to prevent that.
Luckily it was warm and sunny and beautiful out today. We got the stroller together and headed for the duck pond. (Have I mentioned that I love going on walks to nice parks like this with my son?) The ground was slightly damp after yesterday’s rain, but a quilt on the ground gave us a nice little dry spot. We had a little food-less picnic under the shade of a big tree.
After taking some really precious pictures of Cameron, I realized that I couldn’t leave such a fabulous day behind without getting some pictures of me and my son. Unfortunately, I can’t do self-shots with my DSLR and 50mm lens. I do however have my not-quite-a-point-and-shoot-digital-video-camera that I used to take these images. Not great of course, but I’m so glad to have the memories.
Happy five month day little guy, and Happy five months a Mommy to me!
