The first week went pretty well. I had a few different experiences as I went through the week, but all in all it was a positive experience.
The biggest issue I had was the feeling like I didn’t have enough to eat. I’m definitely someone who snacks whenever I have nothing else to do, so I very often found myself needing (wanting) something to munch. And, if I didn’t pay attention to what I ate for breakfast and lunch, I wouldn’t have enough points left for dinner (one night, I had grapes dipped in yogurt for supper).
With just a little forward thinking though, I really did enjoy eating while on Weight Watchers. We had some lemon meringue pie in the fridge, and being on Weight Watchers didn’t prevent me from having any. I just didn’t have as much as I normally would. Instead of having pie for dessert every night, I had a piece (6 points) on two nights, after planning the rest of my day to make sure I had enough points left over.
One thing I can’t get my mind around is the weekly points. On Weight Watchers, I get 29 points a day and then I get an extra 35 points a week that I can use how I want – all in one day when I feel like splurging, or spread out through the week for that extra few points a day. Last week, I kept them banked in case I needed a few extra points one day, or in case I happened to need a lot of extra points for some reason. Unfortunately, I got to the end of the week after using only a point or two a day, and I had let all these points go to waste.
So, yesterday, I splurged. The problem with splurging was twofold. First of all, after one week on Weight Watchers, I already felt like crap after eating so much. The second problem? I regained some of the weight I had lost.
So now, I don’t know what to do with these points. I think my plan will be to have a little splurge day on Thursdays (my weigh-in day and the first day of my Weight Watchers week), I’ll save some of the points to top up any day that I need a point or two extra, and I’ll save the rest in case something comes up that requires some more points. No more saving them all until the last day again.
So, here is where I am now. I’m really proud of myself for the progress. I have lost 10 lbs from the highest weight. And next week, I will (hopefully) be down 10 lbs from my initial weigh in. Next week will definitely be a celebration week if I can accomplish that.
Week 0: 164 lbs
So here we go, onto Week 2 of Weight Watchers! Good luck to everyone else going through their own weight loss journey!

Way to go Laura! I used weight watchers before Meghan and I got married and I lost 40 Lbs. Granted when I stopped keeping track 20 of it found me again.
The only thing I didn't like about it was all hte food math I kept doing in my head. It felt like every minute of every day I was thinking about food.
