Close your eyes. Imagine you are somewhere else – anywhere else – but where you are. What does it look like? What does it sound like? What does it feel like? What does it smell like? What does it taste like?
Honestly, if I could go anywhere right now (sans-kids) it would be to an all-inclusive resort where it would be hot, I would be pampered, and a stemmed glass would never be too far away. But, you can probably blame the stage of life I am in for this. I am trying to juggle far too much at the moment, plus it is mid-April and the temperatures are hovering around freezing. That being said, I am not in any shape to be seen in a bathing suit right now, so perhaps I should change my dream-plans.
Italy.
Yes. Italy. I could go there.
The canals of Venice. The villas of Tuscany. The history of Rome.
And the art. Oh, the art. Italy is home to forty percent of the art in the entire world.
Italy.

If I could go anywhere, it would be there. I would sweep myself up in the culture, let myself be carried away in this other way of life. I would sit outside at a little cafe, drinking my espresso and enjoying a baguette. I would drink wine and eat pasta and listen to the birds tittering away in the trees of the countryside. I would wake up in my villa, sit next to a window, and let the sun shine on me as I write.
It will be lovely.
I found myself dreaming of an Italian vacanza when Sobeys asked me to put together a Tastes of the World fantasy board over on Pinterest. Of coure, if a plane ticket isn’t readily available, Pinterest is the next best thing to get your imagination soaring. I floated away to an Italian world of pins and pasta and wine and romantic culinary printables. It was fun.
Sobeys is encouraging you to make your own Dream Destination pin board for a chance to win one of twelve $100 Sobeys gift cards. The information you need to know can all be found here. Make sure you read the rules. The last time there was a pinathon, I had to disqualify some winners for not following the directions. For example, make sure your Tastes of the World Dream Destination pin board includes at least 4 pins from the Sobeys Pinterest Boards and make sure these pins are tagged #LoveSobeys (then fill out your board with some other fun and personal pins!). Once your board is completed, enter it into the giveaway by leaving the link to it in the comments at the Love Food Sobeys blog. So easy, so fun! {The Tastes of the World Pin-A-Thon closes on April 26, 2013}
Where do you dream of escaping to? What would it be like?

I love that first photo. I must say, I am very much looking forward to the Italian cusine while I am there.

Yes, I too am a big fan of going to Italy this year. I am celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary in October and I think that would be an awesome trip!

I’m not on Pinterest, but I would probably escape back to Texas! I was just down there with the baby. Freshest in my mind is the warm sun, wearing skirts and sandals again, good old fashioned down home southern cooking and the amazing southern hospitality!

Right now? Anywhere but here. That’s kind of sad, isn’t it?

Now I’m dreaming of Italy. And a beach too. I’ve been to Italy but it’s been several years. I could go back over and over.

The food is always the best part of travelling. I think out of all the countries I’ve dined in (I mean visited!) China had the best food, followed closely my Malaysia. Italy wins at gelato though. Also melon wrapped in prosciutto. Who would have thought of that? It’s amazing. Now that I have written that I will be stopping at the store for a melon and prosciutto on my way home.

Paris, please. I’ve always wanted to go. I would take a million photographs and sit in an outdoor cafe ALL day long. :)

Oooh I’d always go to Italy. I’d sit at a piazza in the sun and eat pasta and gelato all day long :)
